Photo Props!!!

I have a friend that has, just this year, started her own photography business! Check her out Caitlynn Gillyard Photography. So I decided because of her I should start making photo props!!! I have found some cute patterns over on Hodge Podge Crochet, that I couldn't resist on making.

I also switched the blanket out for a diaper-cover and kept the hat from the pattern above to go with it.

When I get my phone working again i will get the link for where to find the pattern for the diaper-cover. There are only two others I have made so far. There is a turtle-photo-prop and Minnie-photo-prop. The turtle prop can also be found on hodge podge crochet. 

The pattern for the Minnie-photo-prop I do have to find again because i'm not positive on where I found it, although i used the same diaper-cover as on the Ladybug, but changed the skirt pattern a bit.

Question for those who crochet and sell

Since I started selling my finished products, I've found it hard to come up with a price. I have been surfing the web for weeks trying to find the right solution for me. So far I check to see what the item I've made is going for on ETSY, and what I think would be fair. While other times I take the cost of materials and multiply by 2. Although if I want to make profit from this I really need set prices. 

How do you figure your prices?

In The Kitchen

Lately I've been trying to find something new to crochet, I get bored of the same thing after a while, but I can't seem to find something that attracts my attention. So far I seem to be working on things for the kitchen. I love what I have found so far!

I found this at dishclothcorner and just had to make it! As soon as I was finished my nephew wanted to steal it. The time to make it wasn't that long at all. For me, only an hour because i had to keep putting it down to help my nephew with anything and everything.

For the weaved-hotpad I found it at Raverly. It is not as complicated as it looks and is fast to whip up.

Now I just need to find a couple more crazy patterns to try.

Getting Started

I am new to this so please bare with me. I am not the best writer out there so this may not be the best, but who truly cares right. Anyways the names April and I'm 23. I guess this post shall be a little getting to know me.

No, just because my name is April does not mean I was born in April. I was born in November of 89. I am the youngest and only girl in my family, extended family excluded. I have three lovely nephews, of which I love to pieces. Edward the eldest of the three, whom I call midget, is the closest to my heart. When he came into this world my willingness to learn how to crochet burned brightly. It had taken three people to teach me before finally getting the hang of it! By the time the third one came alone I was crocheting airplanes. 

I have struggled with keeping up with hobbies in the past so I never believed I could come this far in crochet. All throughout middle ad high school I would write poetry. Don't think most of them were that great. But I have always loved crafts. So here I am today and I try to keep pushing myself with something new.

Last year I was diagnosed with panic disorder with agoraphobia, so I don't go out much. Never really liked new places or new people. I have been doing so much better I the past 6 months thanks to a certain person and to crochet. Although right now I am going through a bit of a set back. I am finding it a bit hard to find motivation to do things and to go out. I am hoping that I won't go back to my old habits though. And hopefully in time things will be good again, after all who doesn't go through a rough patch from time to time.

Everyone that has seen my work, friends and family, have said that I should sell what I create. So with that I had created a page on Facebook, finally last year I came up with the name I had wanted to use, with a little help from a friend. Stitch Around has been there for me this past year and has become a place to hide and get lost. There are so many things to make and I feel as though there isn't enough time. 

Stitch Around isn't just me though I did create it. My cousins wife Hollie, who taught me to crochet is apart of this. When I question a pattern in any way I turn to her even though it seems of late that I have surpassed her. And a new member Tiffany, of which I've known since second grade. She is a beginner who is learning again and in the memory of her grandmother.
